Morning
Opening of and learning to use this Wiki to share information and keep on communicating after this residency.
Afternoon
guineapig-domino to make practical experiments how to connect different media (chain reaction):
the domino consists of a (human) face smiling into a camera making a moving light move towards another camera which triggers a sound
below you see a picture of the domino including necessary hardware, programs, protocols
what we figure is that communication is not too easy between different kinds of knowledge and different levels of experience - that´s a subject it would be interesting to spend some time on solving
at the moment it´s more like people who know figuring out how our guineapig would be able to function and afterwards explaining it to the others
Case study: chain reaction from video to light to sound
- A human steps in front of a camera
- the camera is connected ( via usb, firewire, analog, stream ) to a PC
- the pc runs a video detection program such as Puredata (with Gem / pdp), Isadora, Max/MSP, openCV via Processing or Python
- the program sends OSC data after rescaling/weighting them to another PC
- the second pc runs a program (Isadora during the workshop, but could as well Max/MSP or Pd) that converts the OSC data to TCP messages sent over the network to a Lanbox
- the Lanbox turns the TCP commands into DMX message adressed to the moving light
